NO ONE SHOULD BE LEFT BEHIND
I was born in Fukuoka and moved to the UK at the age of 14.
I became a lawyer when I was 35 years old.
While traveling back and forth between the UK and Japan,
I realized that over the past decade,
Japan’s economy has been falling drastically behind the rest of the world.
I feel a deep sense of urgency about the growing poverty in Japan.
What we need right now is the urgent economic action.
Unless we seriously support small and medium-sized businesses and raise the national minimum wage of Japan,
we cannot rebuild the economy or improve people’s lives.
If abolishing the consumption tax is one way to achieve that — to lift up the lives of ordinary people living in Japan and revive the economy — then it must be done immediately.
Think. Who is truly working to rebuild the economy today? Who genuinely cares about the people living in our society in Japan?
I want to build a society where no one has to suffer from poverty and no one is left behind.
I want to build a society free from war and free from discrimination — that’s the future I believe in.
One step at a time, with you.
